SPORTING pride is coursing through Huddersfield at the moment.

So it's no surprise that the phrase has been chosen as the name of a new store selling Town and Giants merchandise.

A number of Town players, as well as their manager, Peter Jackson, and Giants coach Jon Sharp officially opened the shop in town centre Cloth Hall Street yesterday.

Sporting Pride manager Sharon Jepson said public demand led to the opening of the shop, which is run by Huddersfield Town.

And from babywear to adult sporting equipment, there's something for everyone.

There will also be regular signings, so fans can meet their heroes.

As well as the regular team kits and training strips, buyers can pick up a host of different items, ranging from car flags to hats for chilly terraces - and Huddersfield Town jelly babies.

Sharp said support in the streets for both teams was fantastic.

"More people are displaying their allegiance to the clubs. It's growing. You can see more people wearing more stuff. There's big support out there," he added.

He even admitted: "There's some nice Town stuff here!"

Jackson said the shop would help add to the buzz surrounding Town.

"It's nice to see people walking round in blue and white," he added.

"People are taking an interest in the club. That had worn off over the last couple of years," he said.
