Tony Carss has become Huddersfield Town’s Lead Professional Development Coach.

The 38-year-old has stepped up to take charge of the Under 18 side following Frankie Bunn’s move to the Under 21 section.

Carss, of course, made 89 appearances in three years with Town up to 2006, having started his career at Blackburn Rovers.

He scored one of the penalties in Town’s play-off promotion victory at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium in 2004, when Mansfield were beaten, and possibly the best goal ever scored at the John Smith’s Stadium, a spectacular volley against Torquay in October 2003.

Carss will now be in charge of Town’s players aged 16 to 18. He initially joined the Academy’s technical staff as a part-time coach in 2007 before being named Professional Development Coach alongside Lead Coach Bunn in the summer of 2012.

He will now manage the Under 18 team in the Professional Development League II North, which kicks off on August 16.
