TOWN'S Academy have received a massive feather in their cap with two players receiving England international call-ups.

Centre-back Tom Clarke is in the Under 18 training squad while the club's 15-year-old striker Daniel Broadbent is on standby for the Under 16 training camp.

Clarke, the brother of first team player Nathan, will report to Maidenhead to link up with Nigel Pearson's squad on Sunday September 5 for a four-day get-together.

He will be joined by Huddersfield Grammar School pupil Fraizer Campbell, who is with Manchester United's youth set-up and by the Leeds United duo Aaron Lennon and Simon Walton.

Clarke's call-up comes just as Academy teammates Michael Collins and James Hand have been training with the Republic of Ireland Under 19 squad.

"It's a tremendous lift to all the staff to get these lads selected, because it shows we are being recognised for the talent we've developed at this club," said Academy director Gerry Murphy.

"Tom and Daniel have both been with us from the age of eight and both have done well.

"We have high hopes for Tom, who was playing at Under 19 level last year as a 16-year-old, because he is an intelligent player who reads the game well and is comfortable on the ball.

"While Daniel is only on standby at the moment, he's a powerful and quick forward with a strength that catches the eye."

Broadbent, from Birstall, played with Howden Clough. Clarke was with Sowerby Bridge before joining the Town age-group teams.
