PETER JACKSON is determined Town will be prolific scorers from set-pieces this coming season.
His team led the way in Division III last term and part of the build-up to next week's Coca-Cola League I opener at Stockport will involve working on some new routines.
"When you've got people like Danny Schofield, Rob Edwards and particularly Tony Carss who can whip quality balls into the box, it's only sense to make the most of them," said Jackson before today's final friendly at Macclesfield (1.00).
"Our near-post corner flicks brought us a lot of goals last season and when you give quality service to Andy Booth and Efe Sodje - plus a second defender in there from Steve Yates, Dave Mirfin or Nathan Clarke - it's not surprising it causes the opposition a lot of problems."
Jackson smiled when asked if he's got a few set-piece surprises up his sleeve for the new campaign.
"Practising a few things will be part of our fine tuning this next week," he said.
"I'm delighted with our build-up and pre-season work and the only thing that's left to do now is specifics concerning our set-pieces - defensively as well as attacking wise - and anything to do with Stockport themselves for the big match next week which we are all looking forward to.
"On the set-pieces, no-one gives anything away in their pre-season games because you always know there will be scouts from other clubs who are knocking about and making notes about what's going on.
"Stockport are sure to have someone watching us in the Macclesfield game, so we'll leave our corners and free-kicks until we are safely back on the training ground."
