TOWN have organised a friendly at First Division Rotherham as a key part of their pre-season build-up.

The match will be played at Millmoor on Tuesday, July 27 with a 7.45pm kick-off.

It will be a solid test for Peter Jackson's promoted squad, who will open their pre-season programme with the traditional Mick Green Memorial Trophy match against Wakefield & Emley at the Welfare Ground in Emley on Monday, July 12 (7.30).

That's just a week after Town's senior squad return to training following holidays and Jackson will be keen to repeat last year's 2-0 win, when scorers were Andy Booth and Jon Newby and more than 1,000 watched on the boss's eagerly-anticipated return to management.

Other matches fixed up include Bradford Park Avenue away on Wednesday July 21 (7.30), Harrogate Town away on Saturday, July 24 (3.00) and Farsley Celtic away on Wednesday, July 28 (7.30). Town also plan to play Guiseley away on Tuesday August 3, although details have to be confirmed.

Manager Jackson is also keen to have a big McAlpine match before the season kicks off on August 7, but plans are being hampered because of the Blue concert on July 31 and pressure of time for Premiership clubs.
