TOWN are in limbo over the signing of trialist striker Akpo Sodje.

The 22-year-old brother of Town captain Efe has been with Peter Jackson's squad since pre-season.

He netted twice in the warm-up games and Jackson is prepared to offer him a short-term contract to see how he develops in full-time training and playing with the Reserves.

But Jackson explained a there's a stumbling block.

"Akpo's club, Erith and Belvedere, hold his registration and they say they want a small fee for him," said the manager, who has been impressed by Sodje's power and pace.

"I am keen to give Akpo a chance on a three-month contract at the Galpharm, but I'm not in a position to pay any money for him.

"We have told Akpo and Efe of the situation and we've left it with Erith and Belvedere.

"It's now up to them what happens from here."

Town Reserves open their programme in the Pontin's Holidays League Division I East next Wednesday, when York City visit the Galpharm (2.00).

Whether Sodje can play will depend on Erith's response.
