TOWN Ladies had to work hard to gain passage through to the next round of the Women's FA Cup.

But goals by Michaela Jessop, Jade Robshaw and Sarah Kennerdale brought a 3-1 win over Blyth Spartans in their first qualifying round tie.

Town's main threat was on the break and they took the lead after 25 minutes when Jessop turned well at the edge of the box and shot into the bottom corner.

The goals lifted Town and just before the break Robshaw chipped over the Spartans goalkeeper for the second.

Blyth reduced the deficit in the 60th minute, but Kennerdale made the game safe on 88.

Stephanie Foster was player of the match.
