TERRY the Terrier has made his mark!

The Huddersfield Town mascot emerged victorious in a penalty shootout against mascots from other soccer clubs.

He earned his place in the spot-kick by snatching runners-up place in a one-furlong sprint.

First in the race was Chaddy the Owl from Oldham Athletic, followed by Terry, and third was Macclesfield's Rory the Lion.

Both events took place at Haydock Park during a charity racing day.

TV stars and sports stars joined race jockeys in a series of events.

There were also exhibitions from the National Football Museum and the National Horseracing Museum.

To prove every dog has its day, Terry was then successful on the spot kicks against Blackpool goalkeeping coach Anthony Williams.

Coronation Street star Steve Arnold - Ashley Peacock in the long-running soap - was one of the TV celebrities having a great day out at an event staged to raise money for the NSPCC Full Stop campaign, which is aimed at preventing abuse of children.

The Manchester United fan said: "I'm having a belting day out.

"I've had a few winners and if you can come here and raise money for charity, have a few beers and enjoy yourself, what better day can you have?"
