TOWN are releasing midfield player Dwayne Mattis.

Manager Peter Jackson is circulating the 22-year-old's name to all League clubs.

It brings an end to a long McAlpine association for the Huddersfield-born Republic of Ireland Under 21 cap, who has figured only twice in the starting line-up this season and four times as a substitute.

"Dwayne is out of contract at the end of the season and, after being at the club since he was about 12, I think the change will do him good and breathe new life into his career," said Jackson.

"Being fair and honest with Dwayne, he isn't going to figure strongly in my plans, so this is an opportunity for him to beat the inevitable summer rush and get himself fixed up before the end of this season.

"I gave Dwayne is League debut at 17 and he has done well for this club, so we wish him well."

Mattis has played 79 times for Town, scoring three goals.
