That's all she wrote

Thanks for following along with me on deadline day!

Know there will be a few disappointed faces that Town didn’t make any more signings, but Wagner has always preached patience and thinking of the long term. Which means we get to do it all again in the summer....

I know I can’t wait!

In the meantime, small matter of a game against Preston on Saturday. Stick with us throughout the week for all the build-up and I will have a live blog from Deepdale on Saturday afternoon.

Night!

Loan market

The loan window opens February 9 by the way, which does give Town an option to strengthen if they feel they need it.

Window closed

That’s it! The 11 bongs have sounded and the window is officially closed.

For Town, one permanent acquisition in Karim Matmour, plus loans for Jed Steer, James Huband (due up February 6) and of course, Elvis Manu.

With a name like that, not sure anyone will forget it.

Interesting Chilwell snippet

According to the Mirror, Arsenal tried and failed to get Ben Chilwell signed from Leicester this window.

Loads of rumours flying around about Chilwell coming back to Town on loan but was never looking likely today.

Probably worth noting though, given he remains a Leicester player, that any youth loan doesn’t have to be completed today. That can go through later if Town can make it happen with the Foxes.

A trio of confirmations

Like buses...

Alex Revell and Jay-Emmanuel Thomas in at QPR, with Julien de Sart in at Boro.

Additional development there with Fernando Amorebieta leavign Boro to go back to parent club Fulham. Probably has a bearing on James Husband’s future.

Agree?

Wise words, in my opinion.

Gomez to Blackburn confirmed

Not much of the Rhodes money spent yet by Lambert though - that one is a loan until the end of the season.

Never judge by YouTube highlights

Only one deal for Town today, and with things now slowing down across the Championship I turned to YouTube.

With the caveat one should never judge by a video highlights reel, here’s our new recruit Elvis Manu in action.

Enjoy!

MK Dons to add Revell

Been a busy ‘ole day for Cardiff.

Zohore has been approved by the Football League, Tom Lawrence has joined on loan and now Alex Revell looks to be heading out to MK Dons.

That move should be completed by 11pm as he’s apparently undergoing a medical as I type. However, Federico Macheda will be staying with the Bluebirds despite interest from Bristol City.

Rivals confirm striking addition

Charlton Athletic have confirmed the loan signing of Yaya Sanogo from Arsenal.

The Frenchman has joined until the end of the season after spending the first half of this year at Ajax.

He has an FA Cup winners medal with the Gunners but has struggled to nail down a first team spot at the Emirates.

We're all shook up

Your reaction to Elvis Manu’s loan capture was as puntastic as I expected.

Although I did really appreciate the mention of Football Manager regens as well.

Where do we stand?

2 hours 30 minutes until deadline.

Where are we?

Well, Town have made one signing today - Elvis Manu on loan.

They’ve also recalled Jordy Hiwula from Wigan - that isn’t connected to the Emyr Huws deal in any way.

The Jordan Rhodes deal with Boro - confirmation due imminently - is also of interest to Town fans, and the bank manager.

Anything else?

All quiet on the John Smith’s front at the moment. The good news is that’s outgoings as well as incomings.

However, we have eyes peeled in Yorkshire and across the Championship until Big Ben bongs and the window shuts at 11pm.

Austin lets the cat out of the bag?

Now, do 2 and 2 make 4 or 5?

Charlie Austin has tweeted “see you at the weekend” to QPR midfielder Leroy Fer. Now at Southampton, it seems Austin is dropping a big hint that QPR could be set to lose another player - this time to Swansea on loan.

Southampton play Swansea at the weekend.

Or they could just meeting up in the pub I guess.

Apparently, Jordan Rhodes has now managed to find his way to Middlesbrough (via Land’s End and John O’Groats).

And apparently Paul Lambert has fired up the fax machine in preparation.

Paul Wheelock in Lancashire is expecting an incoming this evening.

Rivals ready to strengthen?

Right, after the excitement of that news, what else is happening around the league?

Interesting news coming out of Charlton Athletic, who are believed to be close to the signature of Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo on loan.

He hasn’t had much success at Ajax in the first half of the season, but the Addicks hope he can help them beat the drop.

Wagner quotes revealing

Those David Wagner quotes are rather revealing no?

The boss has made it clear he doesn’t like loan signings in the past, but here he is making one. And it’s because his long term signings aren’t available.

A winger? Dutch born? Whoever could this be a replacement for?

Wagner on Elvis

The boss has explained exactly why he has moved to sign the former Feyenoord man on loan until May.

He said:

“I’ve talked a lot during this winter window about bringing players to the Club who would help us in the long term but when it became clear that our targets were not available in this window, we moved down a different road to help for the rest of the season.

“I like what I have seen of Elvis from his time at Feyenoord and Brighton; I believe his qualities will fit with our ideas. I’m sure he can help us out this season.

“He also gives me another option in the number seven, 11 and nine slots, which it is important to have for the rest of the season.”

Disappointing lack of Elvis puns in there, David.
