Former Huddersfield Town striker Jon Stead is a wanted man.

It’s reported the 32-year-old is attracting interest from League I clubs Barnsley, Chesterfield and Walsall.

Huddersfield-born Stead is out of contract at Town, where he came through the academy and had two spells.

Bradford City, who had him on loan last season, appear to have given up home of signing him permanently.

Stead scored 11 times in 40 games for Bradford, five of them coming in the Bantams’ run to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

As an emerging talent, he notched 24 goals in 76 games to earn a £1.25m move to then-Premier League Blackburn Rovers in February 2004.

The former England Under 21 international later played for Sunderland, Sheffield United, Ipswich Town and Bristol City before rejoining Town two years ago.

His second stint brought 10 starts, 13 substitute appearances and three goals.

Stead, who has scored 105 career goals at club level, was loaned to both Oldham Athletic and Bradford City the season before last.

Meanwhile former Town loan full-back Jazz Richards has joined Championship rivals Fulham from Swansea City.

The 24-year-old Wales international, who made nine Town appearances in 2013-14, has agreed a three-year contract.

He had a 14-match stint on loan at Fulham last season.
