Huddersfield Town fans, we are offering you the chance to vote for your player of the month for January in the latest instalment of our new competition.

Each month, we will collate your player ratings and work out the averages for each player, with the top three coming into contention for the award and it's up to you to decide which Town player will be crowned the Examiner player of the month.

Jonathan Hogg was the winner of December's award , narrowly pipping November victor Jacob Butterfield by 38% to 36%, with the latter missing out on two consecutive player of the month crowns as a result.

January was actually Town's second best performance in terms of points per game on average, as they won two and lost two of their four games, working out at 1.5 points with only October (1.8), when Town went unbeaten throughout all five games, proving more successful.

That included a commendable 3-1 home win over play-off hopefuls Watford , as well as a resilient performance to secure a valuable three points with a 1-0 win at relegation rivals Wigan Athletic .

But that was mixed in with the desperately disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Reading in the FA Cup at the start of the month, in addition to a battling 2-0 reverse at Middlesbrough and the Terriers concluded the month by going down 2-1 in the West Yorkshire derby at home to Leeds United .

But despite a topsy-turvy set of results, there have been some highlights throughout the course of the month for Chris Powell's side and certain players have stood out above the rest.

You can vote for your Examiner player of the month via either our Twitter or Facebook pages or in the poll below.

On Twitter, simply retweet the image of the player you want to win the award.

On Facebook, we will set up a gallery of images where you can like your selection and leave a comment below as to why you think that player should be given player of the month.

Voting closes at midday on Friday and we will announce the winner on both Twitter and Facebook that evening.

Take a look through the three players who earned the highest ratings from you in January below and pick your favourite.

LOOK: Huddersfield Town in January

Joel Lynch

Has struggled with injuries throughout this season but played a key role at both ends of the field in the victories over Watford and Wigan, which resulted in his highest individual ratings from Town fans.

He starred in both, with his stunning goal against the Hornets already a contender for goal of the season and he was vital in helping Powell's side register only their fifth clean sheet of the season against Malky Mackay's Wigan side.

The 27-year-old central defender was absent from the 1-0 defeat to Reading but was unable to prevent Middlesbrough and Leeds from breaching the backline and was booked in the derby clash at the weekend.

Jacob Butterfield

Finished December off with a stunning goal against Bolton Wanderers and, while he wasn't able to contribute a goal during January, he did follow that up with assists against Watford and Leeds.

His tee-up for Nahki Wells' opener against Watford was indicative of his playmaking qualities as he danced through the Hornets defence and drilled a vicious low cross into the area, which ricocheted to the Bermudian for him to break the deadlock.

And it was his left-footed corner from the right which deceived Neil Redfearn's side - particularly goalkeeper Marco Silvestri - and Harry Bunn pounced to grab a leveller.

Nahki Wells

The livewire frontman finished the month with an untimely injury in the defeat to Leeds United, although he is expected to pass a late fitness test to face Millwall this weekend.

But he also ended January with a goal and two assists to his name, as well as an impressive performance in defeat at Middlesbrough, where he smacked the post with a clever bending effort in the second half.

His performance against Watford was the most memorable from January as he pounced on Butterfield's cross to open the scoring before supplying a cross of his own for James Vaughan to put Town back in the lead in that game and capped things off by assisting Conor Coady's fortunate winner at Wigan Athletic.
