WALKERS ARMS beat the atrocious weather and the opposition to reach the quarter-finals of the Sunday League's Rollinson Cup.

Double blasts by Wayne Dyson and Bob Clarke brought them a deserved 4-0 win over fellow Division I side Royal FC .

Walkers now play Division II leaders Team Forward A in the last eight, while Royal revert to the Armitage Leisure Trophy where they play Gas Club.

League fixtures secretary Alan Carter was highly relieved to get through the day with only two postponements - at Bradley Park and Farnley recreation ground - considering Friday's snowfall.

In the League, Team Forward were unable to emulate their defeat of GNG Sikh Temple when they took on Irish Centre at Deighton.

In a close game, Alan Mowforth (pen) and Darren Henighan gave Irish a 2-1 win, with Paul Pike replying for Forward.

Crosland Moor All Stars got back on the winning trail after a string of defeats when they beat Rose and Crown Golcar 5-3 in their relegation battle.

Three games in the Kirklees Sunday League also got the go-ahead, and they provided 19 goals despite the terribly testing conditions.

The District League managed to get two games played - a Groom Cup and a Division IV game - while the Works League also had two successes, with a Hoyle Cup game being played along with a league game.

It was a different story in the West Riding County Amateur League, where all matches were postponed, while AFC Emley's Northern Counties East League Division I match was also off.
