GRITTY midfield enforcer Jon Worthington is ready to risk a ban as he bids to help drive Town towards automatic promotion from Division III.

The tough-tackling 20-year-old will be hit with a two-match suspension if he receives another yellow card in any of the next three games - against Swansea at home on Saturday, away to Leyton Orient seven days later and at home to Southend on April 10.

It would be a third ban of the season for the Dewsbury-based Academy product, who missed matches after incurring five bookings and also following his controversial FA Cup red card at Accrington Stanley.

Worthington is now on nine yellow cards, but insists it will be business as usual in the engine room as fourth-placed Town approach their crucial nine-match run-in.

"I know there is the danger of a ban hanging over me, but bookings are a bit of an occupational hazard in the position I play in, even though I don't consider myself a dirty player" he said.

"I can't afford to think about getting booked. I just go out there, go about my business and make my challenges as normal."

Fellow midfielder Lee Fowler is the only other Town player on nine yellow cards, but he has been ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.
