Huddersfield Town failed to return to winning ways at home as they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw with Cardiff City .

The Terriers bossed the early stages but were unable to convert their possession into any goalscoring opportunities and it was the Bluebirds who went closest early on when Eoin Doyle was denied from point-blank range by Alex Smithies.

Mark Hudson nearly netted against his former side but was denied by Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall with a header from Jacob Butterfield's free-kick while, at the other end, Murray Wallace made an excellent block to deny Peter Whittingham.
