WATERLOO BC are the only team in the League with a 100% record.

And with only four matches gone, this surely bodes well for some close battles for the titles during the coming months.

The Division II leaders edged out a plucky middle-of-the-table First Huddersfield 2-1.

Dave Woffenden opened the scoring for Waterloo, managing to find space in a crowded goalmouth to slot home.

The visitors hit back, however, and capitalised on Waterloo’s poor defending from a corner to equalise.

After the break Waterloo were a different side, and Richard Hirst calmly found the back of the net with a fine shot from the edge of the box.

Waterloo now began playing at a higher tempo and were denied only by poor finishing from substitute striker Sean Dempsey.

In close order behind Waterloo are White Swan who had a narrow 3-2 win over HD One thanks to a late volley from Lance De Block.

The game was heading for a 2-2 stalemate when the substitute latched onto a loose ball and struck it home from just outside the area.

The game was played in perfect conditions with both sides cancelling each other out in the early stages with few chances created.

Swan broke the deadlock just after the half hour when a low Whitfield drive was parried by the keeper and Barnes followed up to hit home the rebound.

Swan failed to grab the initiative the goal gave them and HD One equalised before the break when a cross was side-footed home by Bradley.

The second half was reminiscent of the first with neither side able to take their chances, until Jagger hit a superb shot from 30 yards which found the roof of the net to put HD One in front.

But Swan were not finished and Barnes turned up trumps again, his fifth in two games, when he headed home from an Allison corner.

This set the scene for De Block’s stunner and allowed Swan to retain their place in the table, two points behind the leaders.
