TOWN have paid off midfielder Ian Craney.

The 27-year-old midfield player returned from his season-long loan at Morecambe and has had surgery to cure a double hernia problem.

The former Accrington Stanley player, who was signed for an undisclosed sum by former boss Stan Ternent in August 2008, is unavailable for the rest of this season and Town have therefore reached agreement to settle his contract, which ran for another year to 2011.

Galpharm boss Lee Clark said: "Ian was here when I joined the club and has been a consummate professional during my time as manager.

"We did everything we could to get him fixed up with a club last summer and he has been unfortunate his time at Morecambe has been disrupted by injury.

"Hopefully he can make a fresh start next season and he can quickly get fixed up with a club."
