DAVID MIRFIN believes Town can win promotion and promised: "We'll hold our nerve."

The 20-year-old will start alongside Nathan Clarke in Saturday's high-stakes home derby against Barnsley and accepts Town must win.

"Even without the massive importance of these three points, playing Barnsley is always a huge derby game and we're really looking forward to it," he said.

"Everyone knows we need to keep things going here.

"Our home form has been our strong point and, with one of our closest rivals set to visit, it's important we maintain that form."

An 18,000-plus crowd is on the cards and, with rivals Colchester and Brentford playing each other, Mirfin believes Town can take a big step towards glory.

"It's going to be close, but we are in a really good position and we'll hold our nerve," he said.

"I think automatic will be left in our own hands but we need to keep winning and Saturday is so important.

"With our crowd right behind us, though, I'm sure we'll take three points."
