Huddersfield Town face Werder Bremen in the penultimate friendly before the Championship season kicks off against Brentford.

It is the first of two friendly assignments in Austria, after the squad flew out for a training camp on Saturday.

FC Ingolstadt are the opponents on Friday evening.

Werder Bremen have already completed four friendlies this summer as they bid to improve on last term's 13th place finish in the Bundesliga.

An 8-0 win over Neuruppin is the stand-out result of the summer for the German outfit so far, but they also beat Altglienicke 2-1 before drawing with fellow German outfit VfB Lubeck and losing to 1860 Munich.

Manager Viktor Skrypnyk, who was linked with the vacancies at West Ham and Sunderland last summer, has bolstered his squad with seven new signings.

Winger Florian Kainz, who cost close to £3m from Rapid Vienna, is the most expensive so far but they have also acquired four players on free transfers - including striker Lennart Thy from St Pauli.

Michael Hefele will also be reunited with an old mate in Justin Eilers, who signed this summer after departing Dynamo Dresden.

However, former Bayern Munich and Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro is undoubtedly the biggest name for fans to watch out for - and Town defenders to keep a close eye on.

He notched 14 goals in 28 Bundesliga games last term and is the top scorer in the club's history, having enjoyed two previous stints at the club.

From a Town perspective, Danny Ward will be hoping to make his debut, while Kasey Palmer is still awaiting his first appearance in blue and white stripes.

Nahki Wells and Ivan Paurevic also missed the friendly with Liverpool, but did travel to Austria with the squad.
