Tommy Smith says Huddersfield Town will continue to work on “game management” next season.

The defender believes Chris Powell’s side have taken significant steps forward in terms of seeing matches out from winning positions.

Smith points to the 1-0 Championship victory at Nottingham Forest in April as evidence.

“We went ahead towards the end of the first half and made sure we kept the lead as we came under pressure in the second,” he said.

“There have been times, like the 2-2 home draw with Norwich City, when we slipped up in that respect.

“The manager is big on game management. We have worked on it and got better at it.

“Now the challenge is to keep improving in that area next season.”
