MANAGER Andy Ritchie plans to put his Town squad through the wringer this week.
With only nine days to the first pre-season friendly against AFC Emley at the Welfare Ground, the Galpharm chief admits he’ll be upping the workload.
So far, only defender Tom Clarke has suffered any adverse reaction to training – resting his sore knee over the weekend – and Ritchie is pleased.
“Week one is now done and gone and we’ll be stepping things up from here,” he said.
“We will be doing more in a physical sense but we will also be doing more on the football front as well.
“It’s all part of a general squad progression to that first friendly up at Emley on Wednesday week and, then, a further progression towards League I in August.
“So far, the lads are doing absolutely fine and they are in good spirits.”
On Tom Clarke, he added: “His problem is just a reaction to building things up after a long time out. We hope he won’t have to go see the specialist again.”
