Huddersfield Town fans will be eager to see whose name is on the teamsheet for the Under 23s’ Professional Development League II game at Watford on Monday afternoon (2.00).

Coach Frankie Bunn fielded five senior players for the opening game against Charlton Athletic at PPG Canalside, where it finished 1-1 with Rekeil Pyke on target for Town.

Jason Davidson, Michael Hefele, Ivan Paurevic, Kasey Palmer and Kyle Dempsey all featured.

German centre-back Hefele, of course, went on to make his mark at first-team level by scoring 26 seconds into his Championship debut to cement the 1-1 draw at Aston Villa.

Australian left-back Davidson has since moved on a season-long loan to Dutch side FC Groningen, who have the option of making the move permanent at the end of the Eredivisie campaign.

With the August 31 transfer deadline day looming, there’s also been talk of a possible loan move for Dempsey, who faces strong competition for a midfield berth.

Town, of course, are the defending PDL II champions.

They beat Sheffield United 2-1 in the play-off final at Bramall Lane last season, when the competition was at Under 21 level.

Watford began their season with a 1-0 win at Birmingham City.

The Hornets are seeking an improvement after finishing bottom of the PDL II’s Southern section last season.

They are coached by former Leeds United, Liverpool and Australian international striker Harry Kewell.

The 37-year-old had previously been running a football academy Down Under.
