Former Huddersfield Town striker Ishmael Miller is being linked with Championship rivals Wigan Athletic.

And Oldham Athletic are said to be interested in former Town skipper Peter Clarke, now at Bury.

Miller, 29, was released by Town this summer after a year and half, 37 appearances and four goals.

The Mancunian was signed by Chris Powell from Blackpool after previously playing for Nottingham Forest, West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City.

A move to the DW Stadium could bring a reunion with former Town loan midfielder Emyr Huws.

Wales international Huws was expected to leave Wigan on his return after spending last season with Town, but featured in their friendly against Manchester United on Saturday.

Wigan won promotion from League I last season.

They have signed former Manchester United player Nick Powell and his fellow midfielder Alex Gilbey (from Colchester United) defenders Kyle Knoyle, on a season-long loan from West Ham United, and Dan Burn, from Fulham.

Wigan have also completed a permanent deal for left-back Stephen Warnock, who played on loan from Derby County last season.

Centre-back Clarke skippered Town to promotion to the Championship in the League I play-off final at Wembley in 2012.

The 34-year-old, who left Town in 2014 after 224 games and 11 goals, was Bury’s player of the year last season.

The former England Under 21 international joined League I Bury from Blackpool a year ago.

He has also played for Everton and Southend United.

New Oldham manager Stephen Robinson has already made nine signings.

Seven of them started Saturday’s 2-0 friendly defeat by Town.
