Chris Powell wants to see Huddersfield Town create some more happy memories of Molineux.

The manager had no trouble recalling the details of last season’s game there as he spoke ahead of Saturday’s Sky-screened lunchtime showdown.

The 3-1 Championship victory on October 1, 2014 was his first away from the John Smith’s Stadium as Town boss.

It came hot on the heels of his first at home, against Millwall, and featured a first start for loan striker Grant Holt.

“I’d certainly take a repeat of last year,” said Powell, whose side are seeking a third win in four and their fifth in as many visits to Wolves’ historic home.

“It was a big performance and a big win for us.

“Nahki Wells got two goals against Millwall on the Saturday, but we changed things for the Wolves game, which was on the Wednesday.

“We could have been two down in five minutes, to be fair, but we settled down.

“Grant Holt made his first start in a long time and gave us 80 minutes of real old-fashioned centre-forwards’s play.

“He didn’t give their centre-backs Danny Batth or Richard Stearman a moment’s peace.”

Town’s scorers were Harry Bunn, Sean Scannell and Conor Coady, the midfielder Wolves bought for £2m during the close-season.

The former Liverpool man is available again after a three-match ban.

But Scotland international Kevin McDonald and Jack Price both impressed in the centre as Wolves won 3-0 at Fulham on Tuesday.

Powell, along with assistant Alex Dyer, was at Craven Cottage.

“We’ve done our homework on Wolves,” he added.

“(First-team coach) Steve Eyre and my analyst Chris Markham watched them at Preston last Saturday (the Deepdale clash ended in a 1-1 draw).

“Then Alex and myself went to Fulham, when Wolves changed things around a bit.

“Nathan Byrne (recently signed from Swindon Town) and Adam Le Fondre (on loan from Cardiff City) came in.

“Fulham had Tom Cairney sent off in the first half for a foul on Le Fondre, and that gave Wolves buoyancy.

“It was only a matter of time before the goals came.

“They are a threat, no doubt, and they keep the ball well.

“And while he didn’t score on Tuesday, there’s no doubting what a danger (ex-Town loan striker) Benik Afobe can be.

“Kenny Jackett has fashioned a good squad, and has spent a bit of money on some decent players and Benik is a real key player for them.”

Afobe, who played for Town in 2010-11, has notched 17 goals in 32 games since joining from Arsenal in a £2m deal in January.
