TOWN are going to the top in a bid to cure captain Jon Worthington’s long-standing groin problem.

The 24-year-old midfielder, out of first-team action since August, is to see top specialist Dr Ulrike Muschaweck at her German clinic.

She’s the woman who got Michael Owen back into action for Newcastle just 10 days after groin surgery.

And West Ham star Craig Bellamy went one better, turning out for Wales against Cyprus last Saturday nine days after going under Dr Muschaweck’s knife.

Bellamy said: “I had surgery on the Thursday and was doing training on a bike back at West Ham on the Friday.

“I was running on the Saturday and able to do much sharper work on the Monday.”

Town decided to send Worthington, who has had three previous groin operations, to Munich after an injection failed to have any real effect.

“She seems to be at the head of her field, and hopefully she can help get Jon back into action as soon as possible,” said boss Andy Ritchie.
