TOWN'S new shirt sponsors will be the Yorkshire Building Society.

Town chief executive Andrew Watson today announced a two-year deal for the society to put their name on Town's three kits.

The two parties already enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship via the Terrier Savings Account.

The Yorkshire, founded in Huddersfield in 1864, pay 1% of the average balances from the accounts, of which there are currently 3,200, to Town's Academy.

In the eight years since the launch of the account, which offers an interest rate of 3.65%, around £500,000 has been handed over.

The new "affinity partnership" agreement includes a further dividend payment to the club based on investment balances.

While neither party would put a figure on the new shirt deal, Watson said it was the most lucrative during his time at the club.

The previous agreement with Prime Time Recruitment was reputedly worth £500,000 over its last three years.

"It's a major deal which is great news for the club," said Watson, who has been in negotiations since Prime Time ended their four-year sponsorship spell in May.

"This steps up the fantastic relationship we already enjoy through the Terrier Account.

"It's a win, win situation, because fans who take out an account benefit from the attractive interest rate, the YBS get the custom and the club gets the dividend.

"It's also great news that our players will be running out with the word `Yorkshire' on their shirts."

The Yorkshire become the seventh building society to put their name on a football shirt, and chief executive Iain Cornish said: "We are delighted to be extending our relationship with Town.

"We are confident this new affinity partnership will result in increased sales across our business areas, which will ultimately strengthen our relationship with Town, providing the club with long-term financial security."
