MATTY YOUNG wants to make up for the disappointment of Saturday's home draw with Bournemouth by helping fire Town to derby victory at Bradford.

Peter Jackson's men head to Valley Parade on Saturday lunchtime in 17th place in League I after a 2-2 stalemate with the Cherries.

In-form Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Luke Beckett both netted equalisers after first James Hayter, then Leon Best scored for the visitors in front of 11,350 at the Galpharm.

At the same time, Bradford were beating Tranmere 2-0 at home to go fourth.

It means Town will motor up the M606 as underdogs, but Young, who made his full home debut, insists the Bantams can be beaten.

"I'm a Leeds lad, but I've been at Town since I was 11, so I know how fierce the rivalry is and how much a win would mean to the fans," said the 20-year-old midfielder.

"I also realise how frustrated the fans were at having to make do with a point on Saturday, but believe me, the players are just as annoyed.

"This is a tough profession to be in and I've got no problems at all with the fans making their feelings known. They pay good money.

"We know we're better than our position suggests, and what better way to start climbing the table than by winning on Saturday?"

While disappointed at the failure to take all three points against Bournemouth, Young enjoyed his first home start.

"It was brilliant to play for 87 minutes - I would have loved to have done the 90 but my calves locked up - and hopefully the gaffer will select me again at Bradford," he said.
