Goodnight
Well, that’s it from the Madejski Stadium from me. It all looked so promising early in the first-half. But Wagner’s men need to bounce back for Saturday’s trip to Brighton. Their league form is superb at present so time to put tonight behind us. Rollercoaster
After going two nil ahead after 16 minutes, the 26th minute sending off of Jonathon Hogg proved crucial as the night unfolded. One before the break for Reading plus four more in a once-sided second half has seen Town’s FA Cup dream ended for this season. A valiant effort by Wagner’s men despite the scoreline.
Miss
Reading’s Danny Williams shoot wide to the left with his right-foot. Can we nick one in the final minutes to force extra-time? Chances have been few and far between but there’s still hope.
Wagner makes a move
76 minutes, Martin Cranie replaces Dean Whitehead who came on himself in the first-half for Lolly.
Murphy save
73 minutes gone and Murphy called into action once more to deny Danny Williams. Town now in to 50/1 from 66/1 with the bookies.....
Mid-half update
Murphy did well to claw away Hal Robson-Kanu’s header from Andy Taylor’s cross soon after the restart.
And he made a fine save in the build-up to Reading’s 59th-minute equaliser, but couldn’t prevent Vydra hooking the ball home.
Reading were ahead within two minutes, with Czech Republic international Vydra turning in Ola John’s cross from the left.
Town weren’t about to give up, and Wells came agonisingly close when he lobbed against a post, with Al-Habsi saving the follow-up.
Murphy made another good save to thwart Vydra in the 69th minute, with Lynch blocking the follow-up from the same player.
20 mins left
Town are still in it, hanging on I’ll grant you, but there’ still a chance to force extra-time here. We know how fit Wagner’s men are.
Pressure
First Vydra with a right-foot shot well saved by Murphy and then Taylor fire over from outside the box for Reading.
So far
It’s Reading 3 Town 2. Town down to ten men after taking a two goal lead after just 16 minutes through Paterson and Smith. Reading pulled one back before the break then two quick goals on 57 and 61 minutes, both from Vydra, gave them the lead.
66-1
Big price on Town to turn this around now, 66-1. After 20 minutes Reading were 12/1, they’re now 1/8.
60 minutes gone
Well, from 2--0 ahead, Reading must be favourites now. Wagner needs to pull something out of the bag here.
