This summer's transfer window for both the Premier League and Football League closes at 6pm on September 1, shifting from the traditional August 31 due to the Bank Holiday.

With less than 48 hours to go there is likely to be plenty of speculation and deals done as clubs scramble to strengthen their squads before a long, hard winter.

Earlier this month, Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell saw the departure of first-choice keeper Alex Smithies to Queen's Park Rangers.

So far he has shown faith with 33-year-old Joe Murphy between the sticks with youngsters Lloyd Allinson, Ed Wilczynski, Sam Guthrie and Tadhg Ryan waiting in the wings.

But with none of the youngsters playing a single first-team game, could Chris Powell be tempted to make a move for any of these?

He may be the first choice goalkeeper for Wales, starring for his country during their Euro 2016 Qualifying campaign, but the Bangor-born stopper finds himself third-choice at Selhurst Park.

West Brom were rumoured to be interested in a permanent move earlier in the summer but with nothing so far forthcoming, Hennessey may be interested in a loan move to the John Smith's with Wales' likely participation in the Euro 2016 Finals.

The youngster is finding his progress at Stamford Bridge limited due to Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic with the Premier League champions possibly open to a loan move.

The 6ft 6in stopper did go out on loan to Middlesbrough last season, making his full debut against Liverpool in the League Cup Third Round in a scintillating 13-14 penalty shoot-out loss in September 2014.

Understudy to Maarten Stekelenburg and Fraser Forster when the England keeper returns from injury, Davis has served the Saints well over the years since signing from Sunderland in 2006.

There's no disputing his Championship nous, being awarded the League's Keeper of the Year on numerous occasions while at both Ipswich Town and Southampton.

Released by Blackburn Rovers, the Beverley-born former England International was linked with a move back to his first club Leeds United in the summer.

So far nothing has materialised and question marks would be raised over his fitness after a lack of a pre-season behind him but could be an excellent addition to the Town squad for his experience alone.

There's a glut of stoppers at Old Trafford with the youngster currently finding himself as the No.2 behind Sergio Romero due to David de Gea, Victor Valdes and Anders Lindegaard all being out of favour.

The young stopper has already had a taste of first-team football, helping guide Preston to the Championship via the League One Play-offs last season but has admitted to 'being in limbo' this campaign due to the current keeper chaos at Manchester United.

A hot prospect, the League One stopper was on the radar of Queens Park Rangers before they plumped to sign Smithies as well as Premier League side West Ham.

However, Shrimpers manager Phil Brown has so far claimed all approaches for the local lad have been 'derisory' which means the asking price could be quite high.

The former Leeds United stopper made only one appearance for the Seagulls last season in a 4-2 League Cup victory over Swindon Town back in August and had previously mentioned his frustrations at a lack of first-team options.

Although he signed a new deal in April, he still finds himself as the third choice keeper at the Amex Arena.
