Huddersfield Town are among a string of clubs being linked with non-league ace Che Adams.

The 18-year-old former Coventry City winger has been shining for Ilkeston in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League this season.

He has been called into the England C squad for the game against Estonia at Halifax on Tuesday.

Burnley, Crewe Alexandra, Newcastle United, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, Peterborough United and Sunderland are all reported to have scouted him in recent weeks.

The Leicester-based player was released by Coventry at 14 and had a spell at minnows Oadby Town before joining Ilkeston.

He broke into their first team last season after impressing at youth level.

Adams has scored in four of Ilkeston’s last five games and has nine for the campaign.

It’s a rarity for players at Northern Premier League level to make the England C set-up.

Adams is out of contract at the end of the season and Ilkeston chairman Dave Mantle is resigned to losing Adams.

He said: “It would be wrong of us to stand in his way if a good opportunity arises for him to move to a higher level.”
