Huddersfield Town have played down fresh rumours linking them with Rangers midfielder Nicky Law.

There have been reports from Glasgow that a £400,000 bid is in the offing for the 27-year-old.

But sources at the Championship club say that is not the case.

Law, no stranger to Yorkshire having started his career at Sheffield United and also played for Rotherham United, has had two years at Rangers.

The fallen Scottish giants signed him from Motherwell and he has 12 months left on his Ibrox contract.

Law, the son of former Barnsley, Rotherham and Chesterfield defender and current Alfreton Town manager Nicky snr, scored 13 goals in 54 games this season as Rangers missed out on a return to the Scottish top flight.

They lost 6-1 over two legs to his old club Motherwell in a play-off showdown.

Town, who are interested in out-of-contract Middlesbrough midfielder Dean Whitehead, were linked with Law this time last year.

And the rumours resurfaced during the January transfer window.

Championship rivals Birmingham City, Brighton, Leeds United and Reading have also been linked.
