We’ll be back again at 10am tomorrow to take you through another day in the January transfer window - with just a week to go we may well get some drama!
Have a great evening.
Wolves in for Marshall
Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering a second bid for Blackburn midfielder Ben Marshall, according to Sky Sports.
Wolves had an original £1.3m bid for Marshall rejected by the Lancashire side - with Rovers holding out for £2m.
Marshall is out of contract in the summer.
Spend, spend, spend at Villa
According to the Mirror, Aston Villa have almost completed a £5m swoop for Barnsley duo Conor Hourihane and James Bree.
The newspaper claims both are due at the Claret and Blues’ training ground today for medicals.
Done deal
Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga has joined Ipswich on loan for the rest of the season.
QPR close on Goss
QPR have agreed a £500,000 fee with Manchester United for 21-year-old midfielder Sean Goss, according to Sky Sports.
The midfielder is believed to be heading to the capital for a medical.
It's a sell out
Town have sold all of their 3,500 tickets for the FA Cup fourth round match this weekend.
Jordan Rhodes
Middlesbrough have rejected two bids for former Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes, with Aston Villa now cooling their interest in the striker - according to Sky Sports.
Boro are believed to want at least £9m for Rhodes.
Duo chasing Barrow
Newcastle United and Aston Villa are vying for the signature of Swansea winger Modou Barrow, according to the Birmingham Mail.
The Gambian has been frozen out under new manager Paul Clement and is looking for a route out of South Wales.
He has a £5m release clause in his Swans contract.
Ryan Mason update
Hull City have released the following statement today after Ryan Mason sustained a skull fracture while playing against Chelsea yesterday:
The Club can confirm that Ryan has been visited this morning at St Mary’s Hospital by Club Captain Michael Dawson, Club Doctor Mark Waller, Head of Medical Rob Price and Club Secretary Matt Wild.
Ryan has been speaking of the incident yesterday and will continue to be monitored at the hospital over the coming days where the Club will remain in close contact with Ryan, his family and the staff at St Mary’s.
Ryan and his family have also been extremely touched by the overwhelming support they have received and would very much like to thank all of those who have posted such positive comments both on social media and in the press over the last 24 hours.
McCormack tipped for Fulham
Aston Villa forward Ross McCormack could be heading back to Fulham this month after manager Steve Bruce blasted the striker this weekend.
Villa drew 2-2 with Preston on Saturday and Bruce revealed the Scot did not play a part because he has been skipping training sessions.
The ex-Hull City boss told the Birmingham Mail:
It hasn’t quite worked for him. Sometimes that happens. We all don’t want to be in this situation, but that doesn’t really interest me.
What really interests me is me getting McCormack in a condition where I think he’s fit enough to come and play.
If you’re continually missing training, then you’re not going to be that.
That’s the stance I’ve taken. There’s been too much indiscipline at this club for far too long and I won’t put up with it.
SkyBet have McCormack at 1/5 to rejoin Fulham this month.
Hogan off to the Hammers?
West Ham are close to signing Brentford striker Scott Hogan, according to Sky Sports.
It is claimed Dimitri Payet’s situation at the Hammers is holding up the deal, but Sky suggest a deal will be agreed between the London sides within 48 hours.
Hogan has bagged 14 Championship goals for the Bees this season.
Townsend to return to the Toon?
The Newcastle Chronicle claim Andros Townsend could well rejoin the Magpies this month, having left for Crystal Palace during the summer.
Palace activated Townsend’s £13m release clause when Newcastle were relegated last season, but the 25-year-old has struggled at Selhurst Park.
The Chronicle understands the former Tottenham winger is keen on a return to St James’ Park where he was adored by fans before choosing to sign for Palace.
The Eagles are believed to be keen on a permanent move for Townsend, with Newcastle hopeful of a loan deal with an option to buy in the summer.
QPR not in for Taylor
QPR boss Ian Holloway has rejected claims he is interested in signing striker Matty Taylor from former club Bristol Rovers.
The Hoops’ boss told West London Sport:
There are a lot of players who step up a level and can score. But it’s about the balance I need – the pace and power to move the ball from back to front sometimes if Idrissa Sylla’s injured.
Have I got anyone who can do that? I’m not so sure I have, and Matty Taylor isn’t really that sort of player.
He’s a very good player who belongs to Bristol Rovers and I shouldn’t talk about anybody else’s players.
Ipswich set to sign Taylor
Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy is confident of signing former Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor, with the 30-year-old training with the Tractor Boys this week.
Taylor, who is now a free agent, left Newcastle after 14 years at the end of last season and spent one year at MLS side Portland Timbers.
On the prospect of signing Taylor, McCarthy told the Shields Gazette:
He’s coming to train on Monday - if he’s fit, he’ll be a good asset.
