Bookmakers have been quick to post markets on who will be the next Huddersfield Town manager.

Steve Thompson, who was assistant to Mark Robins and has previous promotion experience from the Championship with Blackpool, is 4/1 favourite with BetVictor to take the reins permanently at the John Smith's Stadium.

Following Robins' departure in the wake of the opening-day 4-0 home defeat by Bournemouth, the company have former Leeds boss Brian McDermott at 8/1, Karl Robinson at 10s and Malky Mackay at 16/1, the same price as former Leeds Road hero Neil Warnock.

Owen Coyle is rated a 25/1 shot for the Town job by BetVictor, who also include the likes of Tim Sherwood, Steven Pressley, Gianfranco Zola, Darren Ferguson and Phil Neville among frontrunners.

At Skybet, Steve Thompson and Steve Eyre - the first-team coach - are rated at 3/1 each to take over, while Warnock is 10s and Sean O'Driscoll 11s, the same price as Chris Hughton.
