British junior champion Amira Mellor has been called up into the Great Britain Cycling Team for the 2015 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships.

The former Holme Valley Wheelers rider, will join the 12-strong GB team for the event which takes place from January 31 to February 1 in Tabor, Czech Republic.

Mellor, who won the British junior title in Abergavenny last weekend, will step up to contest the elite women’s category.

British Cycling’s cyclo-cross coordinator Stuart Blunt said: “Junior Amira Mellor and Under 23 rider Hannah Payton will join Nikki Harris and Helen Wyman to make up the elite women’s squad.

“Both Hannah and Amira have significantly moved up the UCI Rankings this year and the competition against the worlds-best will be valuable for their development."
