Honley had most team success in the Kirklees Games Primary Schools’ cross country finals at Leeds Road Playing Fields.

Over 400 youngsters from 45 schools braved horrendous weather to compete and six different schools won team prizes and 11 shared the top three placings over the six races – Honley coming out top with a win and two runners-up slots.

The 12 individual medals on offer were shared between 10 schools and only Kirkburton Middle (one gold, one silver) and Netherthong (two silvers) collected more than one.

In addition to the nineteen schools with qualifying teams an additional five schools have individuals who qualify for the next phase – runners are aiming for the West Yorkshire Finals which will be held in March.
