Drakes League clubs were left frustrated as they suffered a first wash-out of the summer.

While some matches started, none finished so positions at the top of each table remain unchanged, with clubs getting two points each.

In the Premiership, the most play was achieved at Delph, where Golcar managed to post 259-9 thanks to solid batting from Steve Whitwam (45), Aussie Tim Welsford (30) and Jack Hargreaves (39).

Wasim Qasim tok five for 84 for the home side, but the weather closed in and they had to call it a day.

Hoylandswaine were 52 without loss against Shelley at Haigh Lane when their match came to an end, while Shepley had been reduced to 22-4 by Kirkburton at Riley Lane when the covers were dragged on.

Skelmanthorpe were 26-2 at home to Moorlands while Elland had reached 39 without loss at Slaithwaite.

There was no play at all at Barkisland or Scholes, where Honley and Broad Oak were the respective visitors.

There was play in all bar one match in the Jedi Sports Championship, Linthwaite failing to get onto the field at home to Almondbury.

Bilal Khiljee had taken four for 12 and Almondbury Wesleyans were 50-6 at home to Holmfirth when the rains came.

Drakes league cricket, Kirkheaton v Cawthorne. Cawthorne players have a kick around in front of the Kirkheaton pavillion where the game was rained off.

Clayton West were 66-1 at home to Marsden when they were forced off, with Dan Barber unbeaten on 34.

Kirkheaton were struggling on 93-6 against Cawthorne, Muztuza Hussain taking three for 30 and Jonathan Lodge hitting 39 for the home side.

Lascelles Hall had reached 18-1 at Meltham while Thongsbridge were 20-0 at home to Armitage Bridge.

No-one would be more frustrated with the rain than Hall Bower’s long-serving Russ Evans, who was 63 not out in their home match against Upperthong and had helped guide his side to 124-2 in the Cedar Court Conference.

Birkby Rose Hill were 76-4 at home to Lepton when bad weather intervened, while Denby were 35-2 at Cumberworth United.

Denby Dale had managed to reach 56-3 when they were forced off at home to Thurstonland.

There was no play between Rastrick and Emley Clarence at Round Hill.
