Chris Aston has told Ismail Anwar to lighten up as he comes to terms with his Central area title defeat.

The Huddersfield lightweight was beaten on points by Southpaw Robbie Barrett over 10 rounds at Barnsley.

Now trainer Chris Aston wants his man to drop a division as he looks to the future.

“Ismail gave it a good go, but we had no dispute over the result,” said Aston.

“Barrett fought well, kept his composure and pretty much stayed in control.”

Anwar, 24, pictured left, has five wins and eight defeats on his card.

And Aston added: “There’s no doubting his ability, or that he is a crowd-pleaser.

“He’s always been willing to fight strong and awkward opponents.

“He’s not one to take the easy route and that shows on is card.

“What he does have is some useful experience, and we can put that to good use.

“I think moving down to super-featherweight or even below that would be wise. It takes dedication, but it would open doors for him.”
