Huddersfield boxer Tyrone Nurse remains the British light-welterweight boxing champion.

The 26-year-old made a convincing first defence of his belt by stopping Scottish campaigner Willie Limond in nine rounds in Glasgow.

Limond started well and caught Nurse with a right hook in the fourth round.

But the holder upped his game and stung his opponent with a string of body shots in the fifth.

Nurse never relinquished his grip on proceedings and referee Victor Loughlin stepped in after further punishment for Limond.

Halifax light-welter Luke Keleher suffered a points defeat to Conor Benn, the teenage son of former two-weight world champion Nigel Benn.

Nurse’s stablemate Keleher, 29, put up a real fight in a back-and-forth four-round contest.
