Huddersfield Dragons are beginning to make a push in the North Women’s Hockey League’s Division II South East.
Lying fifth in the table, the Dragons closed the gap on the teams immediately above them with a 4-2 win over Kingston-Upon-Hull at Lockwood Park.
The Dragons were on top of the contest for long periods and gained the lead through Becky Pinder.
They built on that lead and two goals from Nicci Swinden and another from Kelly Fillingham sealed a fifth victory of the season for the home side.
Skipper Hester Longstaff’s team’s next test is a local derby clash as they take on a struggling Wakefield thirds team at Lockwood Park on Saturday.
However, the Dragon’s men’s first team slipped to sixth place in the North League’s Division II East after a 6-2 defeat away at Sheffield University Bankers seconds.
