Huddersfield’s top boxers from the Gladiators Boxing Academy are bracing themselves for a string of spring bouts.

Tyrone Nurse gets his breakthrough when he fights Tyler Goodjohn for the English light-welterweight title and the bout is featured on the undercard of the Skysportstelevised MEN show on April 19.

The card has some of the country’s best prospects including Scott Quigg and Jamie McDonell fighting for world titles, Anthony Crolla and Olympians Anthony Joshua, Luke Campbell and Anthony Ogogo.

A win for Nurse will propel him into prime position for the British title, but he faces a tough opponent in Goodjohn.

Nurse, who has 27 wins from his 28 fights, had been helping former World Champion Ricky Burns prepare for his title defence loss to American Terrence Crawford.

Lightweight Ismail Anwar got back to winning ways against previously undefeated Jamie Sampson in Sheffield.

The lightweight boxer was unlucky in his previous encounters winning three and losing three – the defeats all by a single point – but produced a fantastic display this time to win 58-57.

Youssef Al Hamidi is in action on tomorrow night against Barnsley boxer Lee Gibbons at at the Metrodome in Gibbons’ hometown.

The following night sees Scott Gladwin fight another unbeaten opponent in Jason Cunningham for the English bantamweight title at Doncaster Dome March 8.

The winner will take a step towards the British Title with Gladwin having already fought British Champion Gavin Mcdonnell twice winning one and losing the other.

March 28 sees two debutants make their professional debuts at Elland Road, Leeds, but James Higgy and Luke Keleher both have opponents yet to be confirmed.
