Huddersfield Heat face a crucial double header this weekend but must rely on results elsewhere to help them in their push for promotion from Division Two.

Eduardo Perez’s second placed side face Worcester Wolves II at Park Lane tomorrow, before a trip to bottom of the table Mansfield Giants on Sunday.

The Heat will be hoping for a favour from Brixton on Sunday. The London side play host to league leaders Derby Trailblazers and a victory for Brixton will give Heat the opportunity to clinch promotion to Division One, providing Heat win their five remaining games.

Last weekend’s double header trip to London was ultimately disappointing for Perez and his team, having beaten Eastside Eagles 84-66 on Saturday, Heat were beaten overtime 83-79 by Brixton Topcats on Sunday, despite a mammoth third and fourth quarter effort from with Camin (26) Sosa (21) scoring highly.

Heat beat Worcester 95-82 in December and beat Giants 86-77 in February and need a repeat of them victories to stand a chance of promotion. Heat have a full strength side for the double header and have a 12 & 3 record but are currently four points behind league leaders Derby Trailblazers.

Worcester currently occupy 9th place in Division Two, with a 5 & 10 record. They are in form ahead of their trip to West Yorkshire, having beaten Ipswich 95-88 at Uni of Worcester last weekend. Mansfield Giants are rock bottom of Division Two and their victory over Derby Trailblazers in November remains their only victory this season.

Head Coach Eduardo Perez is hoping for a return to winning ways but is fully aware of the task ahead, he said: “We have two tough games to prepare for as we try to pick ourselves up from the result on Sunday. We have to make sure we don’t make a mistake, just in case Derby drop a game in their search of the title. We have to approach these last five games with a strong mentality and keep pushing until the end.”
