Huddersfield's Irish community will be out in force at tomorrow’s World Cup clash at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Huddersfield Republic of Ireland Soccer Supporters Club (HRISSC) had little trouble selling their block of 300 tickets for the big game.

They were snapped up in no time from HRISSC’s Irish Centre base on Fitzwilliam Street.

And Club secretary John Lambe knows it will prove the day will be special.

“We’re really looking forward to the day, not only in supporting Ireland but also being able to say we’re from Huddersfield, the birthplace of Rugby League,” he said.

“Naturally, we will be making a party of it as the Irish do!

“Everyone is welcome to the Centre, before and after the game, including 150 fans who are visiting us from Leeds Irish Centre.

“We look forward to a great day supporting ‘The Wolfhounds’ and would like to thank the Irish Centre and Rugby League for the chance to enjoy this fantastic occasion.”
