Two Huddersfield cyclists are celebrating success in the Isle of Man.
While the Tour de Yorkshire was being staged, Yorkshire’s youth cyclists were competing in the National Youth Tour on the Isle of Man.
And the Under 14 team prize came back to the White Rose county thanks to Fin Cooper-Oldroyd (Paul Milnes RT) of Fenay Bridge, Holmfirth Cycling Club’s Ollie Rees and their teammates Dylan Westley (Alba Rosa) and Sam Watson (Chevin Trek.com).
They all ride for separate clubs in Yorkshire but came together to ride for Bradford-based Paul Milnes Cycles (Cooper-Oldroyd is a member of their race team, usually competing in national cyclo cross events).
The prologue stage was a time trial along the sea front in Douglas on Day One, followed by a road race around Ellerslie in torrential rain and wind the following afternoon.
The last stage was on Day Three around Ramsey sea front.
The Yorkshire boys led the team event from the off, increasing their lead after each stage. On the last stage there were five Yorkshire riders in the top 10, and excellent result for the county.
