Chris Powell picked over Huddersfield Town’s first defeat in eight games and said: “It’s disappointing, but we’ll dust ourselves down and bounce back.”

Town dropped to 15th in the Championship after their 3-2 defeat at Derby County, where Harry Bunn and skipper Mark Hudson scored.

Derby led 1-0 through Jordan Ibe, then 3-1 through Johnny Russell, who scored in first-half stoppage time, and Simon Dawkins.

“We didn’t have the greatest of starts, but we played ourselves back into it and Harry Bunn scored a really good equaliser,” said Powell.

“We just needed to get to half-time on level terms. Their second looked like a controversial goal (there were claims of an offside in the build-up) but fair play to the officials, they got it right.

“It meant we went in at 2-1 down when 1-1 would have given us a good platform. We had some good chances in the second half, but it wasn’t to be.

“We have been brave and gone with two strikers (Nahki Wells and Grant Holt). It could have paid off, but it hasn’t.

“Now we have to respond in the right way and make sure we are ready to go to Fulham on Saturday.”

The Londoners are at home to Blackpool tonight.
