Huddersfield Town manager Mark Robins insists he has more transfer targets he’d like to bring to Town.

Less than two weeks before the big Championship kick-off at Nottingham Forest, the John Smith’s Stadium boss says club officials are working hard behind the scenes to further strengthen the squad.

Swindon’s James Collins – a target for Robins when he was at Coventry – is the latest to be linked, while director of football operations Ross Wilson was in Ireland to run the rule over a player this weekend – however Hibernian are believed to have put in a bid for Collins.

“We are still on the lookout for bodies if we can do something – that would be great because it would be a big help,” said Robins, who watched Martin Paterson get his first goal in Town colours to seal the 1-0 friendly victory over Rotherham United.

“It could be that we take in a trialist or two this week to help with numbers for the amount of games we’ve got coming up, because we have to get the recovery time and balance hard work with rest.”

With the senior friendly against Spanish side Real Betis coming up at the John Smith’s on Wednesday (7.45), Robins would not be drawn on how many signings he would like to add, or what positions they would be in.

“I would like to be able to do a bit (on signings), but we are where we are,” said Robins, who will have to wait until at least next week to get striker Jon Stead (groin) and midfielder Keith Southern (calf) back into full training.

“We have got financial fair play rules coming in this year and we have to be really, really careful and make sure we spend anything we have wisely. I would imagine there is a little bit left and we are working very hard behind the scenes. That work will continue, but I wouldn’t like to put any numbers on (the amount of possible signings) or speculate in any way at this stage.”
