YMCA step up preparations for their first-ever National campaign with a home friendly against Stockport on Saturday.

The Laund Hill side – promoted superbly from North I East through the play-offs – will compete in National III North alongside last season’s champions Cleckheaton.

YM begin life at the new level with a trip to Westoe on Saturday, September 6, and are in the final stages of honing the squad, so the Stockport match – against National II opposition – is important.

It’s also a big day for the club off the pitch, with a Beer and Wine Festival from 12.30, with first and second XV matches kicking off at 2.30.

YM’s own ‘Dolly’ Dalton is in charge of the wide selection of beers, while they have their own Oz Clarke in Tom Starkey taking care of the wines.

Tickets are £10 which include an engraves glass and three drink tokens

Food will be available all day and YM are hoping families will take the opportunity to go up and support.
