Huddersfield boxer Tyrone Nurse (above) will face off against Glasgow’s Willie Limond in his first British Super-Lightweight title defence.

The bout will take place on the under card of the Ricky Burns v Michele Di Rocco world title fight at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on May 28.

The announcement finally came after weeks of speculation that Nurse would feature on the under card of the Kel Brook v Kevin Bizier ‘All of the Lights’ fight at the end of March.

Trainer Chris Aston is confident that Nurse will defend his title in a tough bout.

“It’s going to be a tough fight against a very experienced pro who nearly derailed Amir Khan’s career,” he said.

“Limond has won 39 of his 43 career fights. Those four fighters who beat him were, or went on to be champions.

“But we are confident. We beat the best that Wales had to offer in Chris Jenkins and now we will beat the best the Scottish have.”

Nurse became British champion in November last year after he overcame Swansea’s Jenkins on a points decision at the MEN Arena to claim the vacant belt, while Limond comes into the fight on the back of a technical knockout win against Zaurs Sadihovs on January 30.

Two of Limond’s losses came against renowned fighters Khan, for the Commonwealth lightweight title back in 2007, and against Anthony Crolla in 2011.

Tickets for the Nurse fight go on general sale on Monday March 18th and will be available on www.thessehydro.co.uk or via phone on 0844 395 4000 and 0800 952 0110.
