Kirkheaton produced a magnificent all-round show to reach the final of the Oddfellows Cup.

The Cedar Court Conference leaders knocked out Jedi Sports Championship promotion chasers Marsden and will now face Almondbury Wesleyans in the showpiece on Sunday, August 3 (1pm).

Kirkheaton were all out for 144 against Marsden, but then put up a superb defence to dismiss the home side nine runs short, despite a battling 53 from Chris Coleman.

Former Shipley Providence man Shebak Khan and ex-Cleckheaton player Shahid Rehman did the damage with the ball, each taking three for 25.

Arron Charlton led the way with the bat for Kirkheaton, hitting 31 and receiving solid back-up from Michael Senior on 27. Danny Clee with three for 17 and Ian Bray with three for 25 helped put Marsden in what looked a winning position, but the Conference side were not to be outdone.

At Lascelles Hall, Almondbury Wes put up 235-9 in their 50 overs with David Hales hitting 54 at No10, Coe Byrne 34 and Matt Henshaw 25. Josh Scott took three for 51 as the best of the home attack.

Hales, however, was again prominent when the Hall tried to mount a reply, taking four for 23 from 9.5 overs to restrict the home side to 161 all out despite a fine 72 not out from Chris Bishop-West. Darrell Sykes also took three for 30 for the Wes.

Kirkheaton are celebrating double success, because their Second XI are through to the Earnshaw Cup final on August 3 having beaten Rastrick.

They will face Shelley, who won their semi-final against Cumberworth.
