Lacelles Hall have banned Ben Robshaw for the rest of the Drakes League season.

The Cedar Court Championship club have suspended him from midnight on Friday, August 8, until midnight on Thursday, September 18.

It means their Second XI skipper will not be able to feature again – Lascelles Hall’s second team play in the Cedar Court Conference Two (the third tier of the second-team league structure).

The Highfield Lane club have stepped in to ban Robshaw for six weeks following an “incident” at the Conference Two match between Lascelles Hall and hosts Upperthong.

League officials had been looking into circumstances which led to the abandonment of the fixture. Robshaw was not playing in the game.

Lascelles Hall had totalled 202-9, while Upperthong’s reply stood at 56-8 when players and umpires left the field after alleged problems had been encountered among some of those watching.

The umpires in charge immediately filed a report to the Umpires Association and to Drakes League disciplinary chiefs.

The League have the power to act further themselves, should they deem it necessary, but a club ban is often accepted as punishment in such cases.

Both teams have received two points from the fixture because it was incomplete.
