Lewis Collier followed up his win in the Meltham Trophy with a superb nine-under par second round at his home club of Crosland Heath to secure this season’s Page Trophy.

Collier beat early clubhouse leader Luke Pilkington, of Bradley Park, by four shots.

After a first round of 69 Luke Pilkington (1) held a slender lead of one shot from Lewis Collier (4), Simon Whitham (13) and Richard Wimpenny (12) – both of Crosland Heath.

Pilkington produced an excellent second round, starting with birdies on the first five holes and an eagle on the par five 13th, but he let it slip with a triple bogey on the 15th for a 67 and a total of 135.

A superb second round by Lewis with seven gross birdies and two gross bogeys produced a net 62 for a total of 131 to win the Trophy.

A fine second round of 69 by Graham Proctor (10), of Crosland Heath, gave him third place from Richard Wimpenny, due to his better second round, both on 140.

Best gross was won by Chris Gaunt (1) of Dewsbury with 147, and best nett first round went to Simon Whitham on 69 and the second round prize went to to Richard Wimpenny, 71.

The team trophy was not contested as only Crosland Heath could field a full team.

Nigel Hirst of Dewsbury won the Colin H Swain Cup for best professional, with 76 and 70, one shot ahead of his assistant James Ward on 147, while Dave Knapton won the Roger Heap Cup.

The 18-hole Roger Heap Cup was closely contested with Dave Knapton (12) of Outlane winning by one shot with a net 69 from Richard Barker (15) of Crosland Heath ahead of Charlie Burton (12) of Castlefields, on a back nine countback.

A new cup, donated by Alliance president Darren Arber, was presented to the Professional Order of Merit winner Richard Lambert of Crosland Heath.

Lambert led the Order of Merit by one point from Tom Wild of Bradley Park coming into the Page Trophy, but extended his lead to four points by the end of the competition.
